I finally finished a set of side view templates for the Boeing 777-200. I’ll tell you what: these blank templates take a long time to create, and its hard to keep the motivation to finish as I’m sorting through piles of reference material. It requires a lot of effort to make sure that I’m illustrating these buggers as accurately as possible.
To be honest though, this Boeing 777-200 wasn’t as bad as the DC-10 and 737-800 that I’ve already created. Since this is a relatively new (and highly popular) aircraft, there are tons of good photos and illustrations floating around that I can use to help me make these drawings.
I did have a bit of trouble with the landing gears though. I drew them way too large at first – and I didn’t notice it until I finished these drawings (it always happens that way).
I kept looking at them thinking that something was wrong, but I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was. I compared them to my reference photos, and I ultimately made the realization that I had made them too big. So I spent a little bit of time fine-tuning the scale of those components, and the result is what you see here. But now I’m starting to wonder if they are still a bit too large…
The good thing about having these illustrations complete is that it was a good basis for templates of the 777-300. Considering that I was able to reuse a lot of what I’ve already done here with the -200 variant, the -300 variant went much smoother (and faster)
Custom livery designs for the 777-200
For those of you with virtual airlines who are in need of a custom livery, you’re in luck! The following are two made-from-scratch livery designs I created for the Boeing 777-200 that might be a quick and easy way for you to brand your aircraft. These are fully editable livery concepts that are placed directly over top of my Photoshop PSD templates of the 777-200. All colors (and even shapes) are fully editable.
I know. Airline livery design can be extremely challenging, and my hope is that either one of these two concepts can save you a lot of time when setting up your virtual airline.

Could I please request you to revisit this (and the 777-300) and redo them with raked wingtips? That will make them the 777-200LR, 777F (without pax windows) and the 777-300ER. Is that alright? Thank you!
Hi Shikhar – yes, that has been on my “to do” list for a very long time now so I do plan on making those revisions. I didn’t realize these variants had raked wingtips until after I created the basic 777-200 template so I wish I would have noticed that from the beginning! Oh well – revisions/additions will come eventually.
